The City of Santa Rosa is asking the public to join staff on June 26 in an online community workshop to discuss the impacts of cannabis criminalization laws on area residents and to provide input for the City’s grant funded development of a cannabis equity assessment.
The City, in partnership with SCI Consulting Group, is currently undergoing a state-funded cannabis equity assessment to understand how cannabis criminalization has impacted communities in Santa Rosa. This assessment includes reviewing local historical rates of arrests or convictions for cannabis law violations, identifying the impacts that cannabis-related policies have had historically on communities and populations locally, reviewing how people within the local jurisdiction have been disproportionately or negatively impacted by the United States’ “War on Drugs,” and asking the public their feedback on cannabis criminalization locally.
In May, the City opened a survey, and on June 26, staff will host an online community workshop to gather input directly from those who live or work in Santa Rosa. Community members and cannabis industry members interested in attending this virtual meeting please register here:
Time & Date: June 26, 6 to 8 p.m.Register now to receive a calendar reminder
The City will use all community input to inform the development of the cannabis equity assessment. Funding for this project was provided by a grant from the California Governor’s' Office of Business and Economic Development. Go to SRCity.org/CannabisGrant for more information.
We are working hard, and depend on our members for support. Please, consider joining SCCA today!
